As we approach the end of January, you might find that you are struggling to keep up with any resolutions or goals that you set at the start of the year. Motivating ourselves and staying consistent can be really tough sometimes, so today I’m sharing some of my tips on how you can stay on track to achieve your 2022 goals and resolutions.
Are your goals actually achievable?
The end of January is a really good time to reassess the goals and resolutions you’ve set for the year, because you should now have a better idea of how achievable they really are. Many of us are guilty of setting sky high goals, and whilst that isn’t always a negative thing, it’s really important that we stay realistic in order to achieve what we want. Perhaps have a look over your goals and think about how easy it’s been so far to push towards attaining what you want. If you’ve been struggling, then there is no harm in adjusting your goals to make them more achievable.
Could your goals be broken down into mini goals?
If you’ve set yourself big goals this year, things like massive life changes, and you’re struggling to stay motivated, then you could think about breaking down your big goal into smaller, more achievable ones. We all love that serotonin boost from ticking something off a to-do list, so recreate that feeling with your new year’s resolutions, break them down into bite sized pieces so you can stay motivated by ticking them off. This is also a really good way to track your progress, often people get to the middle of the year and feel like they’ve not achieved much, but breaking down your goals into smaller ones allows you to see just how much progress you’ve really made.
Be kind to yourself!
One of the most important things to do though, is to be kind to yourself. Life is full of ups and downs, with many of us already holding ourselves to an impossible standard. Make sure that your goals and resolutions aren’t getting in the way of you actually enjoying your life. If you’re struggling to reach a goal then show yourself the same compassion you would show to a friend or loved one. Your wellbeing is the most important thing!
